No longer used as a residential school, the Iowa Board of Regents offered the $50M Iowa Braille School to the city of Vinton for $1.
We were challenged to condense a rich history, 48 acres of land, and 203,000 square feet of interior space to help find a firm with the capital and capability to redevelop the property. Our slim publication not only accomplished all those goals, but also showed Vinton’s location in eastern Iowa, and the state.
We went on to create web assets for the local economic development office, and a 28 page, in-depth look at the entire facility.
The committee successfully identified a potential developer, and plans are progressing for an $18M investment to convert portions of the facility into much-needed housing, with opportunities for recreation, housing development of the open land, and a community center.
